Steel Magnolias play golf in the rain, raise more than $55,000 in October 2021 tournament

There has been only one truly stormy day in Southern California this past year.

But that day just so happened to coincide with the much-anticipated Steel Magnolia Golf Tournament on Oct. 25.

Fortunately, there were more than 100 golfers who bravely faced the storm to help the Steel Magnolias raise funding for the Stramski Children’s Developmental Center at  Miller Women’s and Children’s Hospital. The wind and rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the golfers or the courageous volunteers out on the course with them. They enjoyed on-course food breaks donated by Joe Jost’s, Primal Alchemy, Santa Fe Importers and Raising Cane’s.

A reception followed with great food, drinks and lots of opportunities to bid on fun items. Held at Old Ranch Country Club, the event netted more than $55,000 for care of children with developmental conditions.

Seen at the scene: President Denise Dahlhausen, Golf co-Chairs Carmen Bubar and Dane Hickerson, Karen Owens, Cathy King, Heather Moro, Karen Blair, Maureen Sullivan, Suzanne Powell, Hilda Sanchez, Kathy Sears. Among the Men’s Alliance supporters were Rick DuRee, David Bubar, Pete Nabuda, Terry Evans, Bill Wild, Bob Emigh, John Krummell and John Metcalfe.
